Aphids & Neighbors

Rooftop Vegetable Container Garden Pest
My eggplants had a mild aphid problem so I removed them with a strong blast of water and smooshed the survivors with my fingers.

On a lighter note, I recently noticed some neighbors have started their own rooftop container garden.

My camera can't zoom in close enough, but I'm pretty sure they're growing tomatoes. They came out soon after I took this pic and I considered yelling out to them to stake their plants, but I decided against it. Lessons are best learned through direct experience, plus I didn't want to come off as crazy.

  4. It is good to stake them up... but at rooftop, the plant is already sky high, so the gardener may just want to let them go horizontally!!... haha... cheers!!

  5. Bangchik and Kakdah, I think you're right. They should grow them in topsy turvy planters so they can get closer to the ground! :)

  6. Funny how one develops an eye for rooftop gardens - just noticed one in Chinatown going over the Manhattan Bridge.
