First Fruit 2014

Did some more garden work this weekend so now all the plants are on the roof.

Sunsugar F1 cherry tomato. Transplants always look rather feeble the first week they're planted, but now they're noticeably perking up.

3 Little Baby Flower watermelon plants. Not sure how thirsty these plants are (I've grown plenty of cantaloupe type melons, but not watermelons) so if it turns out the water reservoir is not large enough to support 3 plants I can always remove one down the line.

3 Lil Keeper melon plants.

I removed the Beaverlodge tomato plant that was damaged by a bird, it's in a cup near the top left corner of the photo, and replaced it with the spare plant.

The damaged plant is actually already bouncing back, maybe I should find some room for it somewhere in the garden.

Orient Express F1 eggplant.

Yukon Gold potatoes growing steadily, if a bit unevenly, in the soft-sided CB2 planter. Right now I have the planter sitting directly on the warm roof, just in case there's a sudden dip in overnight temps. Once it gets hotter I'll raise it off the roof.

Sugar Buns F1 corn. I might plant some of last year's soybean seeds in this container too.

Orange Blaze F1 peppers. So far I've had no trouble with wind burn this year, something I struggled with last year. The open greenhouses are proving to be excellent wind collars.

Bush Goliath F1 tomato.

The bamboo sticks seem to be doing their job of keeping out birds, I haven't had anymore bird damage since they were added to the containers.

Giant Aconcagua peppers. In the lower middle of this photo you can see I covered the fill tube with window screen mesh. This is to prevent mosquitoes from breeding in the water reservoir, the drainage hole is covered too.

Pink Berkeley Tie Dye tomato.

Ozark Beauty strawberry plants, can't wait to eat these!
